Künker sale 386, lot 5165

This specimen was lot 5165 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €200 (about US$259 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, Johann Friedrich, 1665-1679. 24 Mariengroschen 1679, Zellerfeld. Mit Wert in fünf Zeilen. R Hübsche Patina, leichte Prägeschwäche, kl. Kratzer, fast vorzüglich. (duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg, John Frederick, 1665-79, 24 mariengroschen of 1679, Zellerfeld mint, with value in five lines. Rare, handsome patina, slightly weakly struck, hairlines, about extremely fine.)"

This type is listed for 1677-1680 and is slightly scarce. Earlier in the decade, this denomination was issued in many different styles but this is the only 24 mariengroschen for 1679.
