This specimen was lot 33666 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg. Johann Friedrich Thaler 1679-RB AU Details (Edge Repaired) PCGS, Hannover mint. Rudolf Bornemann as mintmaster. Highly lustrous and essentially Mint State in appearance, with only light wispy friction noted across watery silver fields. Though given an "edge repaired" designation by PCGS, we find no evidence of this in the current holder placement." This type is one of several issued on the death of the duke. His descendant became king George I of England in 1714. It has "EX DURIS GLORIA" to the sides of the reverse rether than at the top.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.
