Goldberg sale 106, lot 1824
Mexico G106-1824r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1824 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $150. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. ½ Escudo, 1863-Go PF. Hand on book. PCGS graded AU-53." The Guanajuato mint struck half escudos 1845, 1849-63 and many dates are common tho this one is scarce. This strike is so crude as appear to be counterfeit but it made it into a holder.

Recorded mintage: unknown, including assayer YF.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, .047 tory oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-115; KM-378.4.
