This specimen was lot 866 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,190 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Erste Republik, 1823-1864. 8 Escudos 1863, Go-YF-Guanajuato. Sehr schön. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand. (republic of Mexico, eight escudos of 1863, Guanajuato mint. Very fine, Flan defect on the edge.)"
The Guanajuato mint was the most prolific issuer of gold during the Republic.
