Stack's Bowers 2020 ANA sale, lot 23365

This specimen was lot 23365 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1860-Ca JC. Chihuahua Mint. NGC EF-45. A handsome and evenly worn example with a decent strike and rich slate grey patina." The Chihuahua mint struck eight reales 1831-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is still quite scarce. Assayer JC is listed for 1857-66.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
