Künker sale 353, lot 3590

This specimen was lot 3590 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €70 (about US$98 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/24 Taler 1752, F, Magdeburg. Prägung für die Mark Brandenburg. Vorzüglich. Erworben im November 1995 von Karla Schenk-Behrens, Essen. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/24 thaler of 1752, Magdeburg mint, struck for the mark of Brandenburg. Extremely fine.)"

This type, with the date on the reverse, was struck 1751-57, 1763. This coin was valued at 1/24 thaler yet contained only 1/26 as much silver.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.08 g, 0.312 fine silver, this specimen 1,87 g.
