Künker sale 353, lot 3447

This specimen was lot 3447 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €4,800 (about US$6,680 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 8 Gute Groschen 1754, E, Königsberg. Ohne Haarband. Von größter Seltenheit. Min. justiert, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion A. Riechmann & Co. 23, Halle 1923, Nr. 209; der Slg. Rudolf Nadler, Auktion Dr. Waldemar Wruck 19, Berlin 1969, Nr. 592 und der Auktion Dr. Waldemar Wruck 23, Berlin 1975, Nr. 680. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, eight good groschen of 1754, Königsberg mint, without hair ribbon. Extremely rare, minor adjustments, extremely fine.)"

This date is rare for the type, which was struck 1753-59, 1763. Tall and short busts were struck simultaneously but not normally at the same mint.
