Künker sale 353, lot 3611

This specimen was lot 3611 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €40 (about US$56 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 18-Gröscher 1754, E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit PRVSS in der Rückseitenumschrift. Schön-sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 18 groscher of 1754, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with "PRVSS" in the reverse legend. Fine to very fine.)"

This type was struck in 1751-54 for use in East Prussia and the neighboring parts of Poland. It was worth about a fifth of a thaler and was accompanied by a six groscher and three groscher. Another tympf (KM D279.1) was struck in 1754 with a crowned bust of the king.
