Künker sale 353, lot 3441

This specimen was lot 3441 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,921 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 8 Gute Groschen 1755, D, Aurich. Mit Locke am Hals. Von großer Seltenheit. Schön-sehr schön. Erworben am 17.11.1988. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, eight good groschen of 1755, Aurich mint, with curl of hair on the neck. Extremely rare, fine to very fine.)"

This type was struck 1753-59, 1763. Tall and short busts were struck simultaneously but not normally at the same mint at the same time. This is an unlisted date in the SCWC.
