Künker sale 353, part of lot 3585

This specimen was part of lot 3585 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), which sold for €140 (about US$195 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/24 Taler ...c) 1/24 Taler 1755 C, Cleve. Prägung für die Mark Brandenburg. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 5, Osnabrück 1986, Nr. 272. 3 Stück., Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/24 thaler of 1755, Cleve mint, struck for the mark of Brandenburg. [One of] three pieces, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This is the first issue of this denomination that is not extremely rare. This type, with the date on the reverse, was struck 1751-57, 1763. This coin was valued at 1/24 thaler yet contained only 1/26 as much silver.
