Stack's Bowers May 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 32239

This specimen was lot 32239 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 1/24 Taler, 1757-A. Berlin Mint. Friedrich II. PCGS MS-63. An attractive survivor of the type with frosty luster and a well centered strike." Thsi type was struck in large numbers 1753-57 and 1763 at Berlin (shown here), Magdeburg (mintmark "F") and Stettin (mintmark "G").
