Künker sale 353, lot 3618

This specimen was lot 3618 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €85 (about US$118 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 18-Gröscher 1757, E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit FRIDERICUS BORUSSORUM REX in der Vorderseitenumschrift. R Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Schulten + Co. Köln, Oktober 1988, Nr. 1725. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 18 groscher of 1757, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with "FRIDERICUS BORUSSORUM REX" in the obverse legend. Rare, very fine.)"

This type was struck in 1755-58 for use in East Prussia and the neighboring parts of Poland. It was worth about a fifth of a thaler and was accompanied by a six groscher and three groscher.
