Künker sale 353, lot 3616

This specimen was lot 3616 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €500 (about US$696 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 18-Gröscher 1756, A/E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit Signatur A im Armabschnitt und AR - GENTFA in der Rückseitenumschrift. Stempelschneider Jakob Abraham. RR Sehr schön +. Erworben am 1.5.1989 von Udo Gans, Arnsberg. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 18 groscher of 1756, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with "FRIDERICVS BORVSSORVM REX" in the obverse legend. Very rare, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck in 1755-58 for use in East Prussia and the neighboring parts of Poland. It was worth about a fifth of a thaler and was accompanied by a six groscher and three groscher.
