Künker sale 353, lot 3455

This specimen was lot 3455 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,253 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1756, F, Magdeburg. Äußerst selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Kl. Prägeschwäche am Rand, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 119, Berlin 2007, Nr. 518. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-sixth thaler of 1756, Magdeburg mint. Very scarce, especially in this quality, slightly weakly struck on the rim, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck at several mints 1752-59, 1763-64. Many varieties exist.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.
