Künker sale 353, lot 3555

This specimen was lot 3555 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €85 (about US$118 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/24 Taler 1756, A, Berlin. Prägung für die Mark Brandenburg. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. Erworben am 13.5.2015. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/24 thaler of 1756, Berlin mint, struck for the mark of Brandenburg. Choice example, about extremely fine.)"

This type, with the monogram dividing the date, was struck 1753-57, 1763. This coin was valued at 1/24 thaler yet contained only 1/26 as much silver. The fineness was reduced to 0.222 in 1764.

Specification: 2.08 g, 0.312 fine silver, this specimen 2,09 g.
