Prussia 1756-A 1/6 thaler
This specimen was lot 3399 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €440 (about US$612 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1756, A, Berlin. Mit kleinerer Schrift auf Vorder- und Rückseite sowie Rosetten neben der Wertzahl und dem Münzzeichen. Von größter Seltenheit. Belagreste, sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 9, Dortmund 1997, Nr. 521. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-sixth thaler of 1756, Berlin mint, with small script on obverse and reverse and rosettes by the value and mintmark. Extremely rare, stained, Very fine.)"
This type was struck at several mints 1752-59, 1763-64. Many varieties exist. This example seems a little light for a sixth of a thaler.
