This specimen was lot 1900 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO: Republic, AR 8 reales, 1874-Mo, initials BH/MH, fully lustrous, NGC graded MS63." The SCWC lists assayers MH (1873-74 and 1877-90) and BH (1874-76) as common. It awards no premium to the overassayer. The Mexico City mint suspended the manufacture of cap and ray eight reales 1869-72 to produce balance scale pesos.
