Mexico 1874-Go centavo

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71020

This specimen was lot 71020 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Centavo, 1874-Go. Guanajuato Mint. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. Only example in NGC census. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guanajuato mint struck one centavos 1874-78 and 1880. They are not rare in circulated condition but are rarely seen choice. The mint closed in 1900.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.

Specification: 7.6 g, copper, 25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
