Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Culiacan is rare; it is priced ten times that of a common Guanajuato issue. This specimen was lot 9149 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $805. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. 50 Centavos, 1874-CnP. Rare date and one of the finest known. Nice strike. PCGS AU-53.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
