This specimen was struck at Alamos, the first date of a type struck there 1874-90. This date is noted as rather scarce but not rare. Many dates of the balance scale twenty-five centavos are unknown in high grade. The third specimen was lot 9039 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $258.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Alamos. 25 Centavos, 1874-AL. Toned. NGC AU-50."

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.
