Mexico 1873-Zs H 50 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 72304

This specimen was lot 72304 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1873-Zs H. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Second highest of four graded by NGC. All examples are Details graded. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Zacatecas mint struck silver fifty centavos 1870-87 and most dates, including this one, are common. Unlike the five and ten centavos, the early dates are more common than the later dates.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
