This specimen was lot 72289 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1872-Pi O. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC AU-53. Finest of three graded by NGC, others are VF and less. Nice example of date. A bit softly struck on eagle's breast. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." This issue from San Luis Potosí is a slightly better date. Like most fifty centavos, high grade specimens are extremely rare. Assayer O operated 1870-73. The SCWC notes an overassayer, O/G.

Recorded mintage: 52,000.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
