The first specimen was lot 1399 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. 10 Pesos, 1872 Do P. Durango. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. Rv. Cap and Rays above scales of Justice, dagger, and scroll of laws. Lightly cleaned long ago but lustre survives and the surfaces show only faint cleaning hairlines. Boldly struck and a few minor adjustment marks are seen in the rim at the top of the reverse. About Uncirculated." The third specimen was lot 71287 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[2] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Pesos, 1872-DoP. NGC MS-61. From a mintage of only 1,755 pieces. First year of issue for this mint. Slightly weak strike with strong die polish lines on both sides. Overall an attractive piece with very faint orange toning on the reverse."
