This specimen was lot 71122 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1872-Go S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Only example in NGC census. Scarce date. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The 1872-GO and the 1873-GO are the two scarcest dates from Guanajuato, which struck this type 1869-81 and 1886-97. Guanajuato is one of four mints which also struck the five centavos with the revised eagle used 1898-1905.

Recorded mintage: 30,000, a scarce date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
