Shown is an 1873MoM 2½ pesos gold piece, of a type struck at Mexico City 1870-92. The type is also recorded from Culiacan, Durango, Guanajuato, Alamos, Hermosillo and Zacatecas but Mexico City is by far the most prolific issuer. All known specimens are the overdate, 1873/2. The series, never popular, ended in 1893.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common for the type.

Specification: 4.23 g, 0.875 fine gold, .119 troy oz AGW.
