SB1025-71312r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71312 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1873-Go S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-58. Only example graded by NGC. Very nice with light toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guanajuato mint struck this type 1869-97 and most dates are common. Guanajuato is one of four mints which also struck the ten centavos with the revised eagle used 1898-1905. This example realized three times the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 50,000, a somewhat better date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-403.5.
