Shown is an 1871MoM five pesos gold piece, of a type struck at Mexico City 1870-1905. The type is also recorded from Culiacan, Durango, Guanajuato, Alamos, Chihuahua, Hermosillo and Zacatecas but Mexico City is by far the most prolific issuer. The 1871MoM is considered a common date; an 1871/69 overdate is recorded for the year.

Recorded mintage: 1,600.

Specification: 8.46 g, 0.875 fine gold, .238 troy oz AGW.
