This specimen was lot 24411 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $528. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1871-GaC. NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines. A very difficult mint to find high grade examples of this type. Sharply struck with attractive tone and strong underlying luster. Only a few light surface hairlines that are barely noticeable prevent this piece from being numerically graded. From the Alex Siegel Collection." This issue from Guadalajara is among the scarce dates. Other mints include Guanajuato (common), Oaxaca (scarce), Mexico City (common), Chihuahua (scarce), Culiacan (scarce), Durango (scarce), Zacatecas (common) and Potosi (scarce). No overdates are recorded for the year.
