This specimen was lot 71157 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1871-Mo M. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-65. Tied with two others for finest of only four graded at NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Mexico City mint struck silver five centavos of this design 1869-97. No date is rare although the 1873-MO qualifies as scarce. Overdates abound but none are reported for 1871.

Recorded mintage: 103,000 including assayer C.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, reeded edge.
