The first specimen was lot 6211 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Chihuahua. 8 Reales, 1871-MM. Sharply struck, some toning. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Chihuahua mint struck eight reales 1831-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is fairly common. An 1871/0 overdate is noted for the year.
