The first specimen was lot 11344 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $352. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. Centavo, 1871-Mo. NGC MS-64 BN. Sharply struck." Altho Mexico City is a common mint for bronze centavos, the early dates are scarce in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 918,000.
Specification: 8 g, copper, 25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
