This specimen was lot 72071 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,098. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1867-C CE. Culiacan Mint. NGC AU-58. Rare date. Only example graded by NGC. Attractively toned and well struck example. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Culiacan mint struck half reales 1846-49, 1852-63 and 1867-69. Many dates are scarcer than the catalog indicates. Many, tho not this one, feature the Sonoran eagle used only at Hermosillo and Culiacan.
