Stack's Bowers February 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74657

This specimen was lot 74657 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1858-Go PF. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-63. An eye-appealing example of the type, exhibiting smooth full luster and a touch of toning throughout." This issue of the Guanajuato mint is a common date as is the 1858/7 overdate. Assayer PF is listed for 1848-61.
