This specimen was lot 73166 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $390.40. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1834-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. NGC EF-45. Highest graded of three examples by NGC. Soft center and assayer. Traces of luster. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The Zacatecas mint struck two reales 1825-70. Assayer OM (Manuel Ochoa and Manuel Miner) is recorded for the years 1831-55. The SCWC lists the 1834-Z^S as the only scarce date in the Zacatecas series. Other mints include Guadalajara, Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, Potosi, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Guanajuato, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated.
