This specimen was lot 73117 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,708. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1834-Mo ML. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-63. Scarce date. Finest and only Mint State of four examples graded by NGC. Bright luster beneath attractive dark toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Shown is an 1834-M^O ML 2 reales, one of a type struck at the Mexico City mint 1825-37, 1840-42, 1847-63, 1867-68 with assayer ML listed for 1833-42. The SCWC lists this as a very scarce date. Other mints include Zacatecas, Guadalajara, Alamos, Hermosillo, Potosi, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Guanajuato, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated.
