Sincona sale 51, lot 2835

This specimen was lot 2835 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Erste Republik, 1823-1864. 8 Escudos 1834, PJ-Guanajuato. Fast vorzüglich. (republic of Mexico, eight escudos of 1834, Guanajuato mint. About extremely fine.)"

The Guanajuato mint struck eight escudos 1828-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW, this specimen 26.93 g.
