This specimen was lot 11273 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1 Real, 1826/5-GoJJ. VERY RARE. Mark on cap, evenly worn. GOOD." Buried in the sleepy listings of the SCWC are some very rare coins, including this one, which is listed as a common date. Guanajuato struck this type 1826-62 and 1867-68 and most dates are common. Assayer JJ is listed for 1812-13 and 1825-26 and assayer MJ is listed for 1826-33.
Specification: 3.38 g, 0.903 fine silver, .098 troy oz ASW.
