Ponterio sale 155, lot 6334

The first specimen was lot 6333 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $166.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 8 Reales, 1826-JJ. Straight J's, die style of 1826-1828. A few small edge nicks. Cleaned ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." The second specimen was lot 6334 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $161. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 8 Reales, 1826-JJ. Full J's, die style of 1825-1826. Several edge nicks. EXTREMELY FINE." For 1826, the SCWC lists assayer MJ (rare) and JJ (slightly scarce). Most Guanajuato issues are common to very common but the dates 1825-28 are infrequently seen.
