This specimen was lot 6335 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 8 Reales, 1827-MJ. Nice strike, dipped. Attractive ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." For 1827, the SCWC lists assayer MJ (scarce) and MR (rare). Assayer MJ is noted for 1826-33. Most Guanajuato issues are common to very common but the dates 1825-28 are infrequently seen.
