This specimen was lot 523 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £60 (about US$93 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic, 8 reales, Zacatecas mint, 1827 AO/AZ, centre weak, scratched and with an edge fault, fine." This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Zacatecas mint. This date is scarce compared to the later issues of the 1880's and 1890's. Assayer AO is recorded for 1826-29; this date is fairly common.
