This specimen was lot 71219 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Escudo, 1827/6-Mo JM. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Date slightly weak, but overall a good strike with full snake on eagle's breast. Overdate is clear. A wholesome example with good luster and light attractive tone." This denomination was struck at Mexico City 1825-33, 1841-63, 1868-69 altho the SCWC does not award any date a premium. Both a regular date and the 1827/6 overdate are listed for the year.
