The first specimen was lot 6280 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $747.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 8 Reales, 1827/1287-FS. Ex: Ponterio Auction #142, lot #378 where it hammered for $700. EXTREMELY RARE overdate. Edge bump. FINE."

The second specimen was lot 6279 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $11,500. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 8 Reales, "1287"-FS. Error Date. Extremely RARE "1287" Error Date Ex: Spink America "Pablo Gerber Collection", 6/96 Auction, lot #226 where it hammered for $8,500. Ex: Ponterio Auction #142, lot #377 where it hammered for $10,000. EXTREMELY RARE, only 4 known examples. This die cutting error was probably discovered and corrected rather quickly, accounting for the great rarity of this variety. The following lot is an example from the corrected die. A few light scratches on the reverse field, lightly cleaned. EXTREMELY FINE." For 1827, the SCWC lists a regular date and the aforesaid overdate, both rare, and the extremely rare "1287" error also shown here.
