Ponterio sale 155, lot 6253

This specimen was lot 6253 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $345. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Durango. 8 Reales, 1826-RL. Eagle of 1826. Slightly weak on eagle's breast. EXTREMELY FINE." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95 and this early date is scarce, verging on rare.
