This specimen was part of lot 73192 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $1,342. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Group of 2 Reales (15 Pieces), 1826-41. Zacatecas Mint. Grade Range: VERY GOOD to VERY FINE. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This specimen was struck at the Zacatecas mint in 1826, one of a type struck there 1825-62 and 1868-69. Assayer AZ is recorded at this mint for the years 1825-26 along with AV (1826 only) and AO (1826-29).
