Mexico 1826-Mo JM 1/2 real

The first specimen was lot 42582 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Reale, 1826-MoJM. NGC MS-65. One of 3 coins graded at this level with none higher at NGC and PCGS. A glistening nearly all-white example that against all odds has remained essentially as stuck nearly two centuries later." This specimen was struck at the Mexico City mint in 1826, one of a type struck there 1825-63. Assayer JM is listed for 1825-32.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
