Hannover 1727-CPS 1/6 thaler KM-143
This specimen was lot 5703 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €200 (about US$278 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, - als Georg I. König von Großbritannien, 1714-1727. 1/6 Taler 1727, Clausthal. R Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 64, Osnabrück 2001, Nr. 4687. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, as George I, king of Great Britain, 1714-27, one sixth thaler of 1727, Clausthal mint. Rare, choice example, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck with the leaping stallion reverse 1719-24 and 1727. This denomination was also struck with a St. Andrew reverse (KM 144), a wild man reverse (KM 109) and a bust obverse (KM 108). The elector George I was also king George I of England after 1714.
