Hannover 1727-EPH 24 mariengroschen
This specimen was lot 55572 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 24 Mariengroschen, 1727-EPH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg I Ludwig (George I of Great Britain). Extremely Fine Details -- Cleaned. Date not listed in KM for this "with 24" variety. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Includes ticket from Kuenker." This type was struck 1722-27 and is not rare. In 1714, Georg Ludwig ascended the throne of Great Britain and all the Hanoverian coinage was revised to show his new title the next year. The listings in the SCWC are even more confused than usual; the photo for this type shows the 1723 version of this coin yet the description states, "obverse: without 24 in field, reverse: horse leaping left", both erroneous statements. The leaping stallion gulden for 1727 is KM 148. A gulden with a bust obverse (KM 100) also exists for 1726.
