Hannover 1726-CPS 2/3 thaler KM-100
This specimen was lot 5701 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €500 (about US$696 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, - als Georg I. König von Großbritannien, 1714-1727. 2/3 Taler 1726, Clausthal. Vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 46, Osnabrück 1999, Nr. 2113. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, as George I, king of Great Britain, 1714-27, two-thirds thaler of 1726, Clausthal mint. Extremely fine.)"
This type was struck with the bust of the king 1715-27 and is common. Other gulden were struck with a leaping stallion reverse (KM 148) or a wild man reverse (KM 112.2). Altho valued at two-thirds of a thaler, the weight given is that of 4/9 thaler.
