Hannover 1726-CPS 1/4 thaler
This specimen was lot 3176 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$724 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Georg Ludwig (Georg I.), 1698-1727. 1/4 Taler 1726, Clausthal. Sehr selten. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. Fast FDC. Feine Patina. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, George Louis I, 1698-1727, quarter thaler of 1726, Clausthal Cabinet piece. Very rare, About brilliant uncirculated, Nice toning.)"
This scarce type was struck 1720-HCB and 1726-CPS. Another 1720 quarter thaler, KM 160 (1726-EPH), is very rare.
