Hannover 1726-EPH 1/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 73599 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 12 Mariengroschen (1/3 Taler), 1726-EPH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (George I of Great Britain). PCGS AU-55. A lovely dove-grey example of the type with iron gray toning in the protected areas courtesy of careful cabinet storage. Attractive surfaces paired with extremely light wear make this a very compelling example. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1723-27 along with KM 110 (bust obverse, struck 1716-27 and scarce).
